I Owe Arcane an Apology
Sorry for ignoring you back in 2021, pookie. :(
MOVIE/SHOW REVIEWS

I’m not a big fan of shows, let alone animations based on a video game. I love The Witcher, but didn’t watch the show. Same with Tomb Raider, Fallout, and others. And I have zero knowledge about League, well, other than my friend almost went insane from that cursed game. Anyway, I digress.
Arcane, back in 2021, mostly went under my radar. My friends threatened me to watch it, but I was super not intrigued. The plot seems okay, and the characters look awesome, but I was simply not interested enough to give it a shot. That is until, when they told me that season 2 was underway, I decided to give it a shot. AND HOLY SHIT! THIS SHOW SLAPS! Everyone knows everything in this show is great, the plot, the characters, the art style, they’re all just chef’s kiss.
What I want to highlight most from this show is how relatable it was. Jinx is my favorite character (and hey, we’re both Aquarius!). The reason is that I can relate to her and the way she’s handling her relationship with Vi. I think the second season for me hits the hardest. The line she said to Vi is almost verbatim to the talk I’ve had with my sister. When she said, “Wait, you actually want my opinion?” I laughed out loud, it was so surreal.
Vi also reminded me of my older sister. We used to be quite close, but since we’re both adults now, we barely have time for each other. And when we fight, we never intended to hurt each other (Cue the scene when they both fight with each other + Caitlyn and Sevika.) I think the way Vi talked and fought with Jinx in the tunnel was relatable too, she said “Why did you come and get me? You didn’t need my help, you haven’t for a long time.” Gaaah, reminds me of my sister so much!
Other than sentimental reasons, Arcane has a very special place in my heart. How revolutionary it was, how gorgeous it was. Only critique? The show is super short, it’s almost like they’re running a marathon to explain every single plot point in the story. No relationships in this show are fleshed out enough to my liking, Vi and Caitlyn, Jinx and Ekko, Jayce and Viktor, Mel and Ambessa, the list goes on. I felt like I was supposed to already know how deep their bonds were from the start. But hey, that is mostly my fault for being shallow.
9/10, would re-watch it again if I ever have the time.
